From Dust to Clay - Potters Bill and Sandy Sanchez
Featuring Hand Made Pottery
'From Dust to Clay' is the name of our website and pottery business.
We have a passion for making useful things from clay.

Our pottery is made with a white stoneware clay.  Each piece is made
by hand and takes about three weeks to complete.  After trimming and
drying, we load each piece into a kiln for a bisque firing at around 1944
degrees F.  After the kiln is cooled each piece is glazed and prepared
for the glaze firing.  The glaze recipes we use are made with the
minerals silica, alumina, calcium, magnesium, iron, rutile, copper and
cobalt.  The pots then go through a second 'glaze' firing to around 2190
degrees F fusing the clay and glaze into a very hard stoneware.  One of
the key features of our process is the slow cooling that allows the
glazes to form tiny crystals which produce unique and beautiful
patterns.  Our functional pieces are safe to eat from and can be put in
the oven, microwave and dishwasher.

It's a fun and inspiring process of combining dust, water and fire to
make beautiful stoneware pottery.  Thanks for visiting our website.
